SNAP Serial Communication Modules

The SNAP-SCM-232 and SNAP-SCM-485-422 serial communication modules are part of the SNAP PAC System. They conveniently provide two channels of serial data at a remote Ethernet location.

Many applications require digital, analog, and serial data to provide a complete solution. Traditionally, either separate serial network cabling is required for the serial devices, or an expensive data processor or PC must be used just to interface with the serial devices.
SNAP serial communication modules eliminate this problem by providing two channels of high-speed, isolated serial communications packaged in the compact SNAP module form.

Wiegand Serial SNAP Module

The SNAP-SCM-W2 serial communication module provides two isolated channels of data input from attached devices that comply with the Wiegand® interface format.

Ideal for access control applications, the SNAP-SCM-W2 complies with the Security Industry Association Standard Protocol for the 26-bit Wiegand Reader Interface.

As part of a SNAP I/O™ system, the module lets you manage access to rooms, equipment, or remote facilities.

SNAP-SCM-PROFI Communication Module

The SNAP-SCM-PROFI module is a high-speed serial communications module that provides a standard electrical interface between Opto 22’s Ethernet-based SNAP PAC System and PROFIBUS DP® networks.

The SNAP-SCM-PROFI module is designed for use with Opto 22’s SNAP PAC R-series controllers and SNAP PAC EB brains, both the standard wired models and the Wired+Wireless™ models.

SNAP PAC Motion Control Subsystem

The easy-to-use SNAP PAC Motion Control Subsystem provides an integrated hardware and software toolset for controlling multi-axis stepper motors.

The subsystem consists of:

• SNAP Motion Control host communication modules (SNAPSCM-MCH16)
  
• SNAP Motion Control breakout boards (SNAP-SCM-BB4)
  
• OptoMotion command set

The SNAP-SCM-MCH16 motion control host module is a serial communication module that links up to four SNAP-SCM-BB4 motion control breakout boards with a SNAP PAC I/O unit. When mounted on an I/O unit and connected to a breakout board, a single SNAP-SCM-MCH16 module allows a SNAP PAC controller running a PAC Control™ programming strategy to control up to 16 stepper motors. The module snaps into an Opto 22 SNAP PAC mounting rack right beside digital and analog modules. LED indicators are provided to indicate Transmit and Receive on each port.
